Bowel Cancer Screening

In North-East London, we are providing an enhanced support service for our patients from relevant screening services, to keep our patients safe.

You are eligible to participate in the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme. This is a national screening programme available to everyone aged 50-74.

Bowel cancer is treatable and curable if detected at an early stage. Bowel cancer screening helps to detect cancer early which can save lives. The Faecal Immunochemical Test (FIT) kit looks for tiny amounts of blood in your poo which could be an early sign of bowel cancer.

How does it work?

For the FIT kit, you simply collect a small sample of stool on a plastic stick and put it into the sample bottle to post to the lab for testing. The testing kit will be sent to you and contains detailed instructions on how to do this.

You can carry out this test in the comfort of your own home and your kit will have a prepaid envelope so that your sample can be sent directly to the testing lab.

Please spend 3 minutes to watch the video below which will clearly explain the process of completing your FIT test. If you require subtitles in a different language, you can watch the video here. To access the subtitles on the YouTube video click the cog button at the bottom right, then click Subtitles, followed by Auto Translate, finally select your preferred language.
