Inhaler Optimisation

Your surgery is taking part in a new local medication safety and improvement programme. This enables you to benefit from newer medications, products and apps that could improve your healthcare outcomes, whilst also being more cost-effective for the NHS. It also enables patients struggling with their asthma to be identified and prioritised for reviews.

Please read the following information about the programme that you may be eligible for and follow the link below to let us know your personal preferences in relation to this programme.

Proposed update to your inhaler prescription: Beclometasone / Formoterol (100/6mcg) (Bibecfo) in place of Beclometasone / Formoterol (100/6mcg) (Fostair)

This product contains the same medication and will be prescribed at the equivalent dose to your current prescription.

Changing from your current Fostair inhaler to the preferred brand Bibecfo allows you to benefit from the following:

  • Easy to use - Bibecfo uses the same inhaler technique as your current inhaler
  • Preferred choice - this product is the preferred inhaler by your local doctors.
  • Review opportunity - this programme also allows your clinical team to receive an update on how well your asthma is currently controlled.

If you have any issues or concerns, you will be able to change back at any time.

How to Receive This Product

Your repeat medication will automatically be updated to allow you to receive prescriptions for this product.

Please spend 5 minutes completing the attached questionnaire to enable your GP practice to receive your up-to-date asthma symptom control.

There is also an opportunity for you to opt-out of this medicine optimisation if there is a reason for you to remain on your current Fostair inhaler. As the new inhaler contains identical constituent ingredients to your current inhaler, you will need to provide a specific reason on your questionnaire below. It would be helpful if you can complete the attached questionnaire within the next 2 weeks, before the programme goes live.

Simply access your portal below to fill out the feedback form and your preferences will be prioritised. You will need your NHS number (provided in the text) and your date of birth.

This is a secure NHS portal. All information entered is confidential and will only be shared with your participating GP practice.
